KAIA WALTON
Screen Composer & Music Producer

Kaia Walton is an emerging Australian screen composer and music producer working across film, television, and digital media. Composing under the name KAI-FI, he blends electronic and orchestral elements with influences from soul, hip hop, and Pasifika/world rhythms to create cinematic, emotionally driven scores.

Based near Byron Bay, Kaia works from his own studio and has composed for a range of projects, including collaborations with the ABC, independent Australian filmmakers, and animated shorts. He is currently working on several upcoming screen projects, contributing original music and sound design.

Kaia’s understanding of screen storytelling is supported by his background in acting and filmmaking. He has worked on set with productions such as Elvis (Baz Luhrmann), Young Rock (NBC), and a One Piece campaign project. His own short film, Ghost Roommate, which he wrote and directed, was officially selected for the 2023 Byron Bay International Film Festival.

Kaia has also collaborated with international artists including Akil the MC (Jurassic 5) and has been recognised by Chuck D (Public Enemy), who featured Kaia’s track on his U.S. radio show. At 16, Kaia was the youngest finalist in Brisbane City Council’s QUBE Effect and performed as the closing act during the live broadcast of Brisbane’s successful 2032 Olympic bid.

He was mentored by the late Stu Fergie (Oka), whose guidance helped shape Kaia’s style - grounded in rhythm, texture, and cultural awareness. With both technical ability and on-set experience, Kaia brings a thoughtful and collaborative approach to scoring for screen.
